Murphy Law Firm joins hands with HOPE Ministries for the annual HOPE Christmas Place event

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, the Murphy Law Firm team put on different set of hats and volunteered as Toy Shoppers for HOPE Christmas Place. HOPE Christmas Place is a special event that allows families, that may not be able to afford Christmas for their children, to come toy shopping for free. Once they pick out their gifts for their children, they head over to the wrapping station and get it ready to put under the tree! HOPE Christmas Place also offers these families Christmas dinner bags filled with groceries from their Client Choice Food Pantry.

Since opening its doors in Greater Baton Rouge in June of 2003, HOPE has served thousands of individuals by carrying out our mission to prevent homelessness and promote self-sufficiency and dignity. HOPE began as a merger of an onsite food pantry and a mentoring program to HUD transitional housing residents. In 2004, in partnership with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, HOPE’s pantry was converted into the first Client Choice pantry in Baton Rouge. In 2005, as a result of both the need and opportunities created by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, their programs were expanded to include an adult education component that has proven to be fundamental in attaining our mission.

HOPE also identified a need for citizen education on poverty and the effects poverty has on a community. Since 2009, HOPE’s team has educated over 2,700 people from across the state from a variety of organizations and companies on the causes of poverty and its influence on how our community looks, feels and acts. HOPE Ministries help meet basic needs and move people forward.

We are thankful for HOPE Ministries and all they do in our community. The Murphy Law Firm team couldn’t have been more excited to serve at this event for the second year in a row, and hopefully many years to come.
